The head of the UN Development Programme, Alexander De Croo, warned that the ongoing conflict involving the US and Israel against Iran could result in over 30 million individuals being pushed into poverty. Speaking at a G7 development meeting in Paris, he highlighted the significant rise in energy and fertilizer prices as a direct consequence of the war. De Croo emphasized that this situation represents a regression in development, noting that it has taken decades to achieve progress that is now at risk of being undone.
