The Federal Government of Nigeria, in collaboration with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the Gates Foundation, has initiated a soil health project valued at $2.2 million. This initiative, named “Global Project Soil Matters – Supporting Soil Health Initiatives (SSHI) in Nigeria,” is set to span three years and aims to enhance the quality and health of the country's soil. The project is expected to contribute significantly to agricultural productivity and sustainability in Nigeria.
