Dr. Ifeoluwa Odedina, a public health physician, has announced that the World Health Organization has developed its first malaria drug specifically designed for newborns. This new formulation aims to enhance dosing accuracy and prevent potential overdoses in this vulnerable age group. However, Dr. Odedina cautioned that while the drug may improve treatment safety, it is unlikely to significantly decrease malaria mortality rates in Nigeria.
