2027: UK High Commission visits Obi, Atiku, INEC ahead of elections

The United Kingdom's High Commissioner to Nigeria, Richard Montgomery, along with Deputy High Commissioner Gill Lever, has conducted visits to key political figures and officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in preparation for the upcoming 2027 general elections. The UK High Commission announced these engagements through a statement on its X handle, emphasizing its commitment to collaborating with all political parties to promote inclusive and credible electoral processes. Among those visited were the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, and 2023 presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, as well as INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan. The visits aimed to discuss developments in Nigeria’s political landscape and democratic processes.
