A recent field study has highlighted the significant role of indigenous communication in shaping climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies among rural farmers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The research focused on communities in Kawu, Zuma, Igu, Dobi, Kaida, and Dota, located within the Bwari and Gwagwalada Area Councils. Findings indicate that government climate policies often fail to resonate with local populations due to a lack of effective communication and engagement, suggesting that incorporating indigenous knowledge and practices could enhance the effectiveness of these policies at the community level. The study calls for a reevaluation of current strategies to better align them with the needs and realities of rural farmers.
