The World Bank Group has officially introduced WACA+, a comprehensive program dedicated to enhancing coastal resilience and promoting the blue economy in West Africa, with a financial commitment of $240 million. This initiative aims to safeguard vulnerable shorelines while generating approximately 13,000 jobs throughout the region. The launch took place on Tuesday during the PRCM Regional Marine and Coastal Forum (FOMACO 2026) in Nouakchott, Mauritania, where it was presented to an audience of over 400 stakeholders, including representatives from various governments and organizations.
