The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has officially launched a new application process for generic top-level domains (gTLDs), marking the first opportunity for applicants to propose new domains since 2012. Interested parties can submit applications for their desired gTLDs, including unique strings in one of 27 different scripts, with a fee of $227,000 required to initiate the hearing process. This initiative aims to expand the domain name system and provide more options for businesses and individuals seeking to establish their online presence.
