Since February 2022, Poland has emerged as a key refuge for individuals fleeing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, with approximately 1 million displaced persons recorded in the country by October 2025. The Polish Red Cross, in collaboration with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, has launched extensive emergency response operations, providing vital assistance such as multipurpose cash, food, shelter, and health services to around 1.8 million people. Despite these efforts, a needs assessment conducted by UNHCR in 2023 revealed that a significant portion of the displaced population continues to struggle with insufficient income to meet basic needs, highlighting the necessity for enhanced integration and livelihood support initiatives. In response to the evolving situation, Poland's government has implemented stricter migration measures and established integration centers, while the Polish Red Cross has shifted its focus towards long-term assistance aimed at fostering the integration of Ukrainian refugees into Polish society.
