The Home Office has announced an increase in the annual value and overall duration of its passport production contract, raising the total to £576 million. This adjustment comes as the start date for the contract has been postponed by one year, and the annual cost has risen by one-third. Additionally, the UK is currently issuing approximately eight million passports annually. This marks the commencement of a third round of engagement with potential suppliers for the contract.
