Sweden has enacted significant reforms to its citizenship framework, set to take effect on June 6, 2026. These changes will require foreign nationals to meet increased eligibility criteria, including extended residency periods. Additionally, applicants will be mandated to provide proof of income and successfully complete language and civics tests as part of the citizenship application process.
