Senator Sandy Onor has officially entered the race for the presidency by becoming the first aspirant to purchase the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential nomination forms for the upcoming 2027 general elections. He acquired the forms at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Saturday, marking a significant step in the party's preparations for its presidential primary scheduled for May 17 and 18, 2027. Onor, who previously served as the PDP governorship candidate in Cross River State during the 2023 elections, is closely associated with the faction led by Minister Nyesom Wike. His candidacy is anticipated to influence the dynamics of the party's internal contest, as more aspirants are expected to emerge in the coming days, aiming to position themselves as viable contenders against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
