Ola Olukoyede, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), revealed during the Jerry Eze Foundation business grant award ceremony that several religious leaders, including pastors and imams, are currently in detention or have been convicted for fraudulent activities. He emphasized that corruption is not confined to any particular religious group, highlighting that both Christian and Islamic institutions have faced issues of misconduct. Olukoyede also mentioned the EFCC's previous investigation into Jerry Eze, founder of Streams of Joy International, which examined potential money laundering activities but ultimately found no evidence of wrongdoing. He underscored the commission's dual role in enforcement and prevention, advocating for the recognition of individuals who demonstrate integrity in their financial dealings.
