Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has officially announced his defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM). This decision was made public following a meeting with political stakeholders aimed at addressing the implications of a recent Supreme Court ruling regarding the PDP leadership crisis. Mohammed indicated that the court's judgment, which invalidated parallel conventions held by rival factions within the PDP, has created significant uncertainty within the party, prompting his move to ensure political stability and continuity. He expressed gratitude to the PDP for its role in his political career but emphasized the necessity of transitioning to a party he believes is free from legal challenges, while also outlining plans for a smooth integration into the APM, including the establishment of a compliance committee and engagement with the Independent National Electoral Commission.
