Nigeria has emphasized the need for equitable and robust support for developing nations as the global maritime sector moves towards achieving net-zero emissions. This appeal was made by Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, Nigeria's Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, during the 84th session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee held by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) in London. The Minister highlighted the importance of ensuring that the transition does not disproportionately burden developing economies, advocating for a collaborative approach to facilitate sustainable shipping practices.
