The United Nations has allocated nearly $98 million in emergency funding to assist individuals in Mozambique who are grappling with the effects of conflict and climate-related disasters. This funding, which includes $83.3 million from the Eastern and Southern Africa Humanitarian Fund and $14.5 million from the UN Central Emergency Response Fund, aims to address urgent needs such as food security, access to clean water, healthcare, and emergency shelter. The assistance will specifically target conflict-affected districts in Cabo Delgado and Nampula provinces, as well as flood-affected areas in Gaza, Sofala, and Maputo provinces. This initiative is part of the broader 2026 Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan, which seeks to provide support to 1.7 million people in Mozambique, highlighting the critical role of donor contributions in facilitating humanitarian efforts.
