The National Union of Tenants of Nigeria (NUTN) has reported that approximately 80% of residents in Rivers State allocate a significant portion of their income towards rent, particularly in the Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas. The union has characterized this trend as a burgeoning crisis, highlighting its detrimental social and economic effects on the local population. Mr. Ceaser Enwefah, the Executive Secretary of NUTN, emphasized the urgent need for intervention to address the rising rental costs that are impacting the livelihoods of many residents in the state capital.
