Nigeria has emphasized the need for a unified approach to data protection and privacy laws throughout Africa to foster trust and facilitate secure cross-border data transfers, thereby bolstering the continent's digital economy. Dr. Vincent Olatunji, the National Commissioner of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), articulated this position during the Data Protection Cross-Regional Peer Exchange Visit held in Abuja. The initiative aims to address the growing challenges posed by differing regulations across nations, which can hinder technological advancement and collaboration in the region.
