Maros Sefcovic, the European Union’s trade commissioner, is scheduled to meet with his US counterpart, Jamieson Greer, to discuss recent tariff threats made by President Donald Trump. This meeting will take place on Tuesday during the G7 ministerial meeting in Paris, following Trump's announcement of a proposed increase in US tariffs on EU vehicles to 25 percent. The EU has firmly rejected Trump's accusations of non-compliance with a previous trade agreement, asserting its commitment to the deal. EU spokesperson Thomas Regnier emphasized that discussions between the two sides are ongoing and that the European Parliament has conditionally approved the EU-US trade pact, while also reiterating the bloc's intention to maintain open communication with the US regarding trade progress.
