Nigeria's major telecommunications companies, including MTN Nigeria, Airtel Nigeria, Globacom, and 9mobile, have successfully recovered over N2 trillion from subscribers as part of a comprehensive debt recovery initiative. This campaign has resulted in millions of users being unable to make calls due to outstanding payments for airtime and data loans. The enforcement of these measures is in response to new compliance regulations established by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, aimed at ensuring financial accountability within the telecommunications sector.
