As of May 4, 2026, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has reported significant humanitarian challenges across several countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. In the Dominican Republic, heavy rainfall since April 8 has led to widespread flooding, impacting approximately 172,000 individuals, resulting in 13 fatalities, and displacing around 92,000 people. In Colombia, escalating violence has been noted, with at least 52 armed attacks reported since April 24, primarily in the southwestern region, causing at least 20 deaths and severely restricting humanitarian access. Meanwhile, northeastern Brazil is facing severe flooding, with at least six deaths reported in Pernambuco and over 16,100 individuals affected in Paraíba, prompting local governments to declare states of emergency and seek federal assistance.
