The Logistics & Telecommunications Sector (LTS) in North-East Nigeria, led by the World Food Programme, continues to address the challenges posed by insecurity in regions such as Damboa, Banki, Damasak, and Monguno, which have resulted in increased displacement and heightened demand for telecommunications services. In response to these challenges, the LTS has implemented strict connectivity security measures, limiting coverage to humanitarian hubs and ensuring user verification through the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Additionally, due to ongoing funding shortfalls, the LTS is collaborating with the WFP to develop a cost-sharing transition plan for 2026, aimed at sustaining essential services with reduced resources. Throughout April, the LTS maintained uninterrupted security communications across 12 operational areas, effectively supporting 1,628 personnel from 16 UN agencies and 36 NGOs via its VHF radio network, while conducting targeted maintenance to ensure system reliability.
