United Bank for Africa has officially refuted a viral social media claim alleging that its Group Chairman, Tony Elumelu, has divorced his wife, Awele, labeling the information as false and defamatory. In a statement released by Alero Ladipo, the bank's Group Head of Brand, Marketing and Corporate Communications, UBA described the claims as "fabricated, reckless, and malicious," asserting that they were intended to harm the reputation of both the bank and its chairman. The bank confirmed that law enforcement agencies have been alerted and that three individuals connected to the dissemination of these falsehoods have been arrested. UBA has urged all parties involved in spreading this misinformation to cease immediately and has indicated that further legal action may follow as investigations continue.
