Haiti is currently experiencing a severe crisis characterized by rampant violence and escalating poverty, which has significantly impacted the media landscape. Approximately 1.4 million individuals have been displaced from their homes due to gang-related violence, creating an environment of fear and instability. The situation has become increasingly perilous for journalists, with UNESCO's Observatory of Killed Journalists reporting that 14 media workers have been murdered in the country since 2021. As a result, many newsrooms have been forced to shut down, further undermining press freedom in the nation.
