On October 28, Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica as a Category 5 storm, impacting approximately 1.6 million individuals. In response to the disaster, Haiti Air Ambulance coordinated a consortium of organizations, including Medic Corps, LIFT Nonprofit Logistics, and Development Impact Global Group, with funding support from a USD $1 million grant from the United States Department of State and additional contributions from various private donors. The consortium executed relief operations from October 30 to December 3, utilizing helicopters and trucks to deliver essential supplies to 106 affected towns and villages, processing over 15,737 food kits and distributing significant quantities of water, hygiene kits, and tarps. Throughout the operation, the consortium provided real-time data on community needs, which was integrated into the information management systems of the Government of Jamaica and other regional authorities, facilitating effective disaster response efforts.
