Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist and former presidential candidate, has publicly criticized the process by which President Bola Tinubu's nomination forms for re-election were filed by proxy. This criticism arose after David Umahi, the former Governor of Ebonyi State and current Minister of Works, signed the presidential forms valued at N100 million, which Umahi described as a significant endorsement of Tinubu's administration. In a statement, Umahi emphasized the importance of continuity and stability in governance, highlighting Tinubu's contributions to infrastructure development as essential for Nigeria's economic growth. In response, Sowore questioned the legitimacy of the process, expressing concern over the implications of having others fill out the nomination forms in Tinubu's absence, particularly regarding the president's qualifications.
