A coalition of staff members at Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, has formally petitioned the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, seeking the suspension and investigation of key management personnel over allegations of significant financial misconduct. The petition, dated April 27, 2026, claims that over ₦1 billion in statutory staff deductions, including contributions to the National Housing Fund and National Health Insurance Scheme, have been misappropriated, despite being reflected as deductions on staff payslips. It further alleges that the Bursar has engaged in unauthorized financial transactions, bypassing established internal controls, while the management is accused of maintaining a “ghost worker” scheme to siphon funds from deceased employees. The petitioners are calling for an immediate forensic audit and the appointment of an interim management team to safeguard evidence as investigations by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) are reportedly underway.
