The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Seriake Dickson, has successfully resolved the brewing dispute between former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and the state NDC Chairman, Hussaini Mai Riga. The conflict arose after Kwankwaso and his supporters moved to the NDC, with Mai Riga publicly vowing in an interview on Tuesday to resist any attempt by Kwankwaso to take over the party’s structure in Kano State. However, the disagreement was amicably settled after both parties held a crucial meeting at Senator Dickson’s residence in Abuja on Wednesday. According to sources familiar with the meeting, the resolution paves the way for a unified front in Kano State as the NDC continues to attract high-profile defectors ahead of the 2027 general elections. The swift intervention by Senator Dickson is being viewed as a significant early test of his leadership in stabilising the young party and managing internal power dynamics.
