2027: APP Releases 2026 Primary Election Timetable

The Action Peoples Party (APP) has officially released its detailed timetable for the conduct of primary elections ahead of the 2027 General Elections. The timetable, approved by the party’s National Working Committee, serves as a formal notice to all aspirants and stakeholders particularly in Imo State to begin necessary preparations. According to the schedule issued by the National Office, pre-primary activities began on May 6, 2026, with the publication of the notice of primary elections at all levels. In a statement issued on Friday by the Imo State Publicity Secretary, Steve Nnadi, the sale and submission of completed nomination and expression of interest forms will run from May 6 to May 25, 2026. The publication of cleared aspirants is scheduled for May 27, 2026. Key Primary Election Dates:Presidential Primary: May 27, 2026, at the National Headquarters Governorship Primary: May 30, 2026, at the State Secretariats Senate Primary: May 29, 2026, at the Senatorial District Headquarters House of Representatives Primary: May 29, 2026, at the Federal Constituency Headquarters House of Assembly Primary: May 30, 2026, at the Local Government Area Headquarters Nomination and Expression of Interest Fees:Presidential: ₦77 million (nomination) + ₦3 million (expression of interest) Governorship: ₦7 million (nomination) + ₦3 million (expression of interest) Senatorial: ₦3 million (nomination) + ₦2 million (expression of interest) House of Representatives: ₦3 million (nomination) + ₦1 million (expression of interest) House of Assembly: ₦1 million (nomination) + ₦500,000 (expression of interest) The party announced that women and persons living with disabilities will receive free nomination forms as part of its commitment to inclusiveness and equal participation. The APP leadership reiterated its dedication to conducting transparent, credible, and fair primaries across all levels.
