Norway has announced an allocation of NOK 30 million to support the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in tracing missing persons, particularly focusing on Ukrainian children affected by the ongoing conflict with Russia. This funding is part of a broader commitment of NOK 233 million from the Nansen Support Programme aimed at addressing humanitarian needs in Ukraine. The ICRC's Central Tracing Agency will utilize these resources to collect and exchange information to reunite families and clarify the fates of those reported missing, amidst alarming reports of thousands of Ukrainian children being forcibly transferred or abducted. Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of accountability for these violations and the need to assist in bringing affected children back home, while also highlighting ongoing support for UNICEF's initiatives to safeguard the rights and well-being of these vulnerable children.
