The federal government has announced a new admission policy for the 2026 academic session, which includes the establishment of cut-off marks of 150 for universities and 100 for polytechnics. In a significant change, the requirement for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for admission into Colleges of Education has been abolished. This decision was made following discussions between the heads of tertiary institutions in Nigeria and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The new framework aims to streamline the admission process across various tertiary education institutions in the country.
