The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has released an Agrometeorological Early Warning Bulletin for Yemen covering the period from May 11 to May 20, 2026. During this time, the country is expected to experience drier and hotter conditions, with rainfall decreasing significantly to minimal levels and floodwaters receding, particularly in eastern and coastal regions. Forecast models indicate that while some areas may see sporadic showers, most highland regions will likely face below-average conditions, which could lead to a resurgence of flooding in specific locations such as Wadi Tuban. Additionally, temperatures are projected to rise sharply, potentially reaching around 40°C in the eastern governorates and along coastal areas, which may adversely affect agricultural productivity, livestock health, and overall water resources.
