Between January and March 2026, the North-West and South-West regions of Cameroon experienced at least 33 documented access constraints impacting humanitarian operations. The situation was particularly challenging on Mondays, known as "ghost town" days, and during lockdowns imposed by non-State armed groups (NSAGs), which included a specific lockdown during the National Youth Day celebrations in February. Additionally, the Bamenda–Jakiri axis faced significant disruptions due to heightened tensions among NSAGs, affecting civilian movement for over a month. While there was a decrease in improvised explosive device (IED) incidents compared to the previous year, with 19 recorded incidents, the continued use of IEDs in populated areas poses risks to civilians, including humanitarian workers.
