The Famine Early Warning System Network has released an update on the food security situation in Honduras, highlighting significant challenges for the agricultural season from April to September 2026. Currently, most regions are experiencing Stressed outcomes, with some areas, particularly in the Dry Corridor, facing Crisis conditions due to limited food stocks and high market reliance. Factors such as erratic rainfall, elevated food and transportation costs, and low labor demand following the coffee and sugarcane harvests are exacerbating the situation for poor rural households. As the lean season peaks from June to September, it is anticipated that many households will struggle to meet their food needs, with a reliance on market purchases amid rising prices and a delayed primera harvest expected to yield below-average results.
