In approximately 1670 A.D., Larooye departed from Ipole-Omu with his followers due to a severe water shortage in their area. Following the guidance of the renowned elephant hunter Olutimehin, who had previously discovered the River Osun during his hunting trips, Larooye relocated to the fertile floodplain of the river. This migration marked the establishment of a significant settlement that would later contribute to the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Osun Osogbo sacred grove. The grove remains a vital site for traditional practices and rituals in the region.
