The Minister of State for Defense, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has recognized the contributions of Nigeria's indigenous defense equipment manufacturing firm, DICON-D7G, in enhancing the country's military industrial production on a global scale. During the opening of the DICON-D7G exhibition booth at the 2026 SAHA Defense and Aerospace Exhibition in Istanbul, Turkey, Matawalle emphasized Nigeria's efforts to decrease reliance on foreign defense manufacturers by promoting local production of military hardware for the armed forces and paramilitary agencies. He noted that this initiative is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and encouraged international defense firms to consider establishing production facilities in Nigeria, given the nation's advancing military industrial capabilities. Additionally, Matawalle commended Osman Chennar, the Chief Executive Officer of DICON-D7G, for his dedication to enhancing local defense equipment production.
