Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have taken into custody Mustapha Abdullahi, the Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, in connection with allegations of money laundering. The arrest occurred in Abuja, with sources indicating that the investigation pertains to fraudulent activities involving approximately N500 billion. Abdullahi, who was appointed to his position by President Bola Tinubu on October 24, 2023, is currently being held by the EFCC as the agency continues its inquiries into the matter. Attempts to obtain a statement from EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
