Prince Paul Ikonne, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and senatorial aspirant for Abia South, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is gaining significant political support in the South-east region as the 2027 general election approaches. He noted that governors and key stakeholders in the area are aligning themselves with Tinubu's leadership. Ikonne made these remarks during the launch of his grassroots mobilisation platform, Asiwaju, indicating a shift in political dynamics within the region, with the influence of former presidential candidate Peter Obi reportedly diminishing.
