The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has conducted a significant operation resulting in the destruction of 1,167 mobile phones and various prohibited items that were confiscated from custodial facilities nationwide. Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, the Controller-General of Corrections, reported that these items, which included smartphones, SIM cards, chargers, and other unauthorized materials, were seized over the past eight months. This action underscores the NCoS's commitment to maintaining security and order within correctional facilities by eliminating contraband that could compromise the safety of both inmates and wardens.
