The Federal Government is set to launch Nigeria's nationwide Digital Switchover (DSO) platform on June 17, 2026, which will provide over 100 free television channels to the public. This announcement was made by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a tour of the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NigComSat) headquarters in Abuja. The transition from analogue to digital broadcasting has been completed, marking a significant milestone in the government's commitment to reforming critical sectors, as highlighted by President Bola Tinubu. The new platform aims to enhance broadcasting and advertising by incorporating real-time audience measurement technology, while also ensuring that the service remains free and accessible to all Nigerians, with plans for six regional studios to support local content creation.
