The Association of Orphanages and Home Operators in Nigeria (ASOHON) has reported that approximately 14 million children are residing in orphanages and motherless homes throughout the country. This figure highlights the significant number of vulnerable children lacking parental care. Gabriel Oyediji, the national president of ASOHON, emphasized the urgent need for increased government support for child care institutions, which are facing challenges in providing adequate care and resources for these children. The disclosure was made during a press conference held on Thursday, drawing attention to the critical situation affecting many families and children in Nigeria.
