Activities at the Gboko Local Government Secretariat in Benue State were disrupted on Thursday when council workers closed the premises in response to a strike initiated by the Benue State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE). The workers secured the main gate of the Secretariat and assembled within the vicinity to express their grievances over unpaid salaries. This action reflects the ongoing tensions between local government employees and the state government regarding financial compensation. The strike has resulted in a complete halt of operations at the Secretariat, affecting various administrative functions.
