Professor Wale Sulaiman, a governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, has refuted claims regarding the selection of a consensus candidate for the upcoming 2027 elections. During his official declaration in Ilorin, he emphasized that the process for choosing the party's candidate is open and adheres to the constitutional guidelines of the APC and the Electoral Act. Sulaiman clarified that for a consensus candidate to be established, all aspirants must agree to step down and endorse the chosen individual, which has not occurred. He urged the public to disregard rumors of endorsements or zoning arrangements, asserting that the party leadership is committed to following legal protocols in the candidate selection process.
