On May 10, Nigerian military jets conducted an airstrike on the Tumfa market in Zurmi County, Zamfara State, around 2 p.m., coinciding with peak trading hours. Eyewitnesses reported that the aircraft had been circling the area for several hours before launching the attack, which resulted in the deaths of several individuals, including teenage girls who were selling porridge. The incident marks the second bombing of a market in Nigeria within a five-week period, raising concerns about the safety of civilians in such public spaces. The military has stated that the operations are aimed at targeting insurgent activities in the region.
