The International Organization for Migration has released findings from the Emergency Trends Tracking (ETT) initiative, which assesses displacement movements in Somalia during the Jilaal dry season. Since its launch in February 2025, data has been collected across 25 districts, although recent assessments have been limited to five districts—Baidoa, Dayniile, Diinsoor, Doolow, and Kahda—due to funding constraints. The ETT aims to monitor sudden displacement caused by crises, facilitating a prioritized humanitarian response to assist those affected. Data is gathered weekly through Key Informant Interviews, focusing on demographics of internally displaced persons (IDPs), reasons for their displacement, and their immediate needs for humanitarian assistance.
