United States Trade Representative Jamieson Greer conveyed optimism regarding China's potential actions following former President Donald Trump's visit to Beijing. In an interview on Bloomberg TV, Greer indicated that he believes Chinese President Xi Jinping may impose restrictions on material support for Iran amid the ongoing conflict. He also suggested that there may be pressure on Tehran to cooperate with the United States in efforts to reopen the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz.
