Misconduct: NJC suspends two judges for one year

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has announced the suspension of Justices Ibrahim D. Shekarau and Edward A. E. Okpe for a period of one year without pay due to findings of judicial misconduct. The NJC's investigation revealed that Shekarau engaged in misconduct related to the improper granting of judicial decisions. In addition to the suspensions, the NJC has also recommended the appointment of 12 new justices to the Court of Appeal, indicating ongoing efforts to maintain judicial integrity and efficiency within the Nigerian legal system.
