Health authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo have confirmed an Ebola outbreak in the eastern Ituri province, where 65 fatalities have been reported. In addition to the deaths, approximately 246 suspected cases of the virus have been identified. In response to the situation, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a cross-border alert on May 15, 2026, to monitor and manage the potential spread of the outbreak to neighboring regions. Efforts are underway to contain the virus and provide necessary medical support to affected individuals.
