Former federal lawmaker Shehu Sani has criticized the South African government for denying Abdul Samad Rabiu, the founder and chairman of BUA Group, entry into the country. Rabiu disclosed during the Africa CEO Forum in Kigali, Rwanda, that he was barred from entering South Africa due to his visa expiring just one day prior to his intended travel. He noted that while he faced this restriction, European travelers were permitted entry without the need for a visa. In response, Sani expressed his discontent on social media, labeling the South African government's actions as disrespectful to Nigeria and highlighting concerns about rising xenophobia in governance.
