Stakeholders advocate salt regulation in processed foods to reduce NCDs

Civil society organisations have urged the Federal Government to implement stricter regulations regarding salt content in processed foods. This advocacy comes in response to the increasing prevalence of hypertension, heart disease, and other non-communicable diseases in Nigeria, which are associated with unhealthy dietary practices. The appeal was articulated in a joint statement released on Thursday by the Network for Health Equity and other stakeholders, emphasizing the need for immediate action to safeguard public health.
