The Anambra State Government has implemented a ban on the wearing of masks by operatives of its community security outfit, Agunechemba, while on duty. This directive was announced by Ken Emeakayi, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, during a meeting with commanders from the 179 communities across the state's 21 Local Government Areas. The immediate enforcement of this ban is intended to deter individuals from using masks to engage in criminal activities while posing as security personnel. Emeakayi emphasized that any Agunechemba member found violating this order, except those on authorized special assignments, would face arrest and disciplinary action. He also advised against the indiscriminate establishment of road checkpoints, stressing that such measures should be strictly for security purposes and not for the harassment of citizens.
